We have always been prey. The light that gave everything life was uncovering us. Making us visible. Just like... a delicious treat on a shiny plate. Only a few generations later someone came who dared to cut off our clan from the violent world so that everyone could live in peace. Our elder came to the beast's maw without any fear and made it swallow the sun. But that didn't free us from the predators right? We locked ourselves in bottomless labyrinths, filled with darkness and famine. I don't  want a future like that.
